From it, you understand that the first stage takes quite a while. That you need to take your time and find ways to distract yourself. But at what point during that stage should you call us? When should you call us?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you experience contractions or your water breaks before 37 weeks of pregnancy, this is too early. That\u2019s why we want to know as soon as possible.  <\/li>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<li>Call if your water breaks and the amniotic fluid is yellow, green, or brown. In that case, please call day or night.  <\/li>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<li>If your water breaks and the amniotic fluid is clear, please call us immediately if the baby hasn't dropped yet. We've already explicitly told you this during your checkup. <\/li>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<li> When it comes to labor, we distinguish between a first and a second vaginal delivery:<\/li>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<li>If this is your first birth, please call us when you\u2019ve been having contractions for 1 hour\u2014contractions that occur every 3 minutes and last 1 minute. So you have a 1-minute contraction, followed by 2 to 3 minutes of rest, and then another 1-minute contraction, and this pattern continues for 1 hour.  <\/li>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<li>Have you ever given birth vaginally? If so, please let us know if you\u2019ve been having contractions every 5 minutes for 1 hour, each lasting 1 minute. So, a 1-minute contraction, followed by 4 minutes of rest, and this pattern continues for 1 hour.  <\/li>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<li>We'd also like to hear from you if you're experiencing heavy vaginal bleeding. We were heading into an unfamiliar period, with all the questions we had, the anxiety, and the first little discomforts! They put us at ease right away. The intimate, small-scale setting made us feel right at home. Everyone hears you and knows you. They\u2019re available 24\/7. You can call them even for the smallest things\u2014to discuss something or just to share your story. And if necessary, they\u2019ll be at your door as soon as possible, or they\u2019ll schedule appointments at the hospital for you. They\u2019re not just there for the baby and the mother\u2014they\u2019re also a listening ear for you as a (soon-to-be) family.
