When you participate in the program, you'll be doing so alongside about 10 other women who are due around the same time as you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are 10 two-hour sessions scheduled during your pregnancy and one session 6 weeks after giving birth.<\/p>\n<p>During each of these sessions, a prenatal checkup takes place, in which you play an active role. In addition, information is provided and we discuss the issues you may encounter during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, and what that means for you, your partner, and your family. There\u2019s also time to get to know the other women in the group.<\/p>\n<p>There are 1 or 2 partner sessions. This depends on the group\u2019s preference. Prior to the Centering sessions, partners or children also have the opportunity to listen to the baby\u2019s heartbeat. The sessions are led by one of us, together with another healthcare provider or a midwife in training.<\/p>\n<p>These group sessions have been shown to help build confidence in yourself, your pregnancy, childbirth, and your role as a mother! Our first instinct was: \u201cThat\u2019s where we need to be!\u201c And we were right! The very first phone call, when we asked if we could sign up, immediately put us at ease. We were heading into an unfamiliar period, with all the questions we had, the anxiety, and the first little discomforts! They put us at ease right away. The intimate, small-scale setting made us feel right at home. Everyone hears you and knows you. They\u2019re available 24\/7. You can call them even for the smallest things\u2014to discuss something or just to share your story. And if necessary, they\u2019ll be at your door as soon as possible, or they\u2019ll schedule appointments at the hospital for you. They\u2019re not just there for the baby and the mother\u2014they\u2019re also a listening ear for you as a (soon-to-be) family.
