This involves testing a small amount of blood. The blood is collected between the 4th and 8th day using a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rivm.nl\/Onderwerpen\/H\/Hielprik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> heel prick test<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Hearing Test<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rivm.nl\/Onderwerpen\/G\/Gehoorscreening_bij_pasgeborenen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing screening<\/a> is performed at the same time as the heel prick test. This screening test checks whether hearing is sufficient for normal language and speech development.<br \/>\nThe heel prick test and the hearing test are performed by the community nurse at the child health clinic.<\/p>\n<h3>Birth Registration<\/h3>\n<p>To ensure that the heel prick test and the birth registration take place on time, it is important that the municipality is notified of the birth. The birth must be registered within 3 days of the birth.
