For me, the best part of this profession is guiding someone through a very important period in their life. Getting to know the pregnant woman and her partner and ensuring that they can experience the pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period as a beautiful and special time.

In 2011, I was named Midwife of the Year by the magazine “Wij jonge ouders.” It was a great honor and a testament to our work!

In addition to my work as a midwife, I serve on the board of the Midwifery Association in Amersfoort.

I've also experienced pregnancy myself. My husband Friso and I have two daughters, Cato and Fiep, and a son, Willem.

I’m passionate about connecting with and caring for expectant mothers (and fathers)! I consider it a privilege to be part of such a special—yet also vulnerable—time as pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

My husband Gijs and I have also had the privilege of experiencing this special time three times with our children, Jonathan, Izak, and Thamar.

Our practice’s motto is to provide expert care that is also small-scale and personalized. It was truly wonderful and enriching to experience this firsthand! I hope to continue doing so for a long time to come—both in our practice and in caring for you, as a pregnant woman, and your partner!

For me, obstetrics is a challenge, precisely because of the many facets the profession entails. It’s a wonderful and multifaceted job, in which you deal with the wonder, the uniqueness, but also the fragility of new life.

Because the practice is small-scale, it’s possible to build a relationship of trust with the expectant mother and her partner. This makes providing care during pregnancy—as well as around the time of delivery and during the postpartum period—especially meaningful and rewarding for me!

My husband Marijn and I have four children: Leonore, Maurits, Bastian, and Joachim. It’s truly special to be able to experience this myself!

I enjoy working as a midwife and believe it’s important to provide the best possible, personalized care. Because we can support you (and your partner) from the very first weeks of pregnancy through the first few weeks after delivery, we have the opportunity to build a relationship of trust and tailor your care to your individual needs.

Every pregnancy, every birth, and every newborn baby is unique. Providing support during this time and carefully considering the best care for the mother and her (unborn) child on a case-by-case basis is something I find to be a wonderful and special challenge time and time again.

I was able to experience it myself twice—at the birth of our son Manuel and our daughter Caya.

I have been working at Aandelaak Midwives since 2023.

Pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period are a very special—but also vulnerable—time in life. As midwives, we are privileged to support you through this journey every day. I never cease to be amazed by the strength of women. The moment you meet your baby for the first time never fails to impress me, time and time again.
I find it rewarding to work with my colleagues to build a relationship with you during your pregnancy and to explore together how we can provide you with the best possible care.

During the first few weeks of the pregnancy, we ended up at Aan de Laak. Our first instinct was: “That’s where we need to be!“ And we were right! The very first phone call, when we asked if we could sign up, immediately put us at ease. We were heading into an unfamiliar period, with all the questions we had, the anxiety, and the first little discomforts! They put us at ease right away. The intimate, small-scale setting made us feel right at home. Everyone hears you and knows you. They’re available 24/7. You can call them even for the smallest things—to discuss something or just to share your story. And if necessary, they’ll be at your door as soon as possible, or they’ll schedule appointments at the hospital for you. They’re not just there for the baby and the mother—they’re also a listening ear for you as a (soon-to-be) family. We’re so grateful to the ladies at Aan de Laak and look back on a special time they were a part of.

The ladies at Aandelaak were my midwives during three pregnancies. During the first two, I also participated in the Centering Pregnancy sessions, which I highly recommend, by the way! The ladies are personable, warm, decisive, friendly, well-informed, and genuinely interested. During my last pregnancy with our twins, I had my checkups at the hospital, but Aandelaak still called me every so often to check in and see how I was doing. Even after the (premature) birth, we stayed in close contact, and I felt incredibly supported. They make sure that both during and after your pregnancy, you feel seen and that they can support you wherever needed. – Esmee Blom-Gommans
