Home/Hospital
No medical indication
If you do not have a medical indication, in the Netherlands we have the option to at home or to give birth in the hospital. It’s very important to give birth in the place where you feel most comfortable. Labor progresses best at home because you can relax best in your own familiar surroundings. That’s why, if you want to give birth in the hospital, we generally support you through the early stages of labor at home. We provide support for both home births and hospital births.
At the Meander Medical Center, you can give birth at the Amersfoort Birth Center! In these cozy rooms, you have the option to give birth in a birthing tub or with nitrous oxide. For more information, visit the website.
Medical indication
If you have a medical indication, your delivery will need to be supervised by an obstetrician. A medical indication may exist before pregnancy or may arise during pregnancy or delivery. Even if there is a medical indication, we can still be present during the delivery. We strive for continuity of care (and care providers). Many women truly see this as an added benefit.
