At Verloskundigen Aandelaak, we place great importance on the privacy of our website users. To safeguard your privacy as effectively as possible, we adhere to a number of core values.

* Providing Information – We want to provide you with as much information as possible about how and why we process personal data. We do this through this privacy statement.

* Limiting Data Collection – We take great care to ensure that the personal data we collect is limited to only what is truly necessary for the proper functioning of the website and the services you have requested.

* No marketing based on personal data – We do not share personal data for marketing purposes and will only send commercial emails with your explicit consent.

* Security – We take appropriate security measures to protect your personal data and require the same of parties that process personal data on our behalf.

* Right of Access and Correction – We respect your right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.

Birth Announcements

Birth announcements that you send to us contain personal information. We will display the birth announcement at the practice, and after some time, it will be removed confidentially. If you hand the birth announcement to us, you agree that it may be displayed within the practice.

Disclosure to Third Parties

Your information will expressly not be disclosed to third parties, other than those directly involved in the performance of the agreement between you and us, or unless required to do so by law. As midwives, we are bound by professional confidentiality. This means that we may not disclose any information to others without your consent. We ask for your permission to consult, if necessary, with your primary care physician, gynecologist, postpartum care provider, and the child health clinic.

Retention Period

Your personal data will never be retained for longer than is necessary for the purposes described in this privacy statement or on the website, except in cases where a legal obligation prevents the deletion of the personal data. To provide your obstetric care, we create a medical client record. All information regarding your pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period is stored in this record and securely retained for 15 years. This information will be used again in the event of a subsequent pregnancy.

Processors

Personal data may be processed on behalf of Aandelaak Midwives by so-called processors and sub-processors. The processors and sub-processors act under the responsibility of Verloskundigen Aandelaak and are not permitted to process the personal data on their own. Your personal data will not be disclosed to other parties, with the exception of those described in this privacy statement. Your personal data will also be disclosed to other parties if we are required to do so by law or a court order. Below is a list of the processors with whom Verloskundigen Aandelaak shares data:

* Your information and the blood test
By participating in the blood test, your personal information will be used for this purpose. The data is recorded in a national registry system called Praeventis. This is done to ensure the quality of the blood test and to monitor the process. For example, if a result is abnormal and no action is taken, an alert is triggered. Your midwife, primary care physician, or gynecologist will then be notified. The data in Praeventis is optimally secured. Only the person responsible for verifying the data to ensure the quality of your care has access to your data. The RIVM is responsible for Praeventis and for the security of your data. After the blood test is complete, you can request that your data be removed from Praeventis. You can submit that request to us. In certain cases, your data may also be included in a national information system managed by the Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation. If you need blood in the future, the blood transfusion laboratory will be able to access your data. The Personal Data Protection Act applies to this registration. Your data will never be disclosed to third parties without your consent.

* Screening programs
Screening tests may be conducted during pregnancy or shortly after birth. These screenings are designed to prevent or detect conditions in your child at an early stage. If you decide to participate in one or more screenings, data will be collected for this purpose. This data is necessary to ensure the screening is conducted properly and to monitor its quality. Each of these data collection processes works slightly differently, as different healthcare providers are involved in each case. However, the basic principle remains the same: Your personal data will be used exclusively to properly conduct the screening for you or your child and to monitor the quality of its implementation. The data may also be used for scientific research. Such research is almost always conducted using anonymous data. Every possible precaution has been taken to ensure that the data cannot be traced back to you or your child. In exceptional cases, identifiable data is required for scientific research. If you do not want your data to be used in such an exceptional case, please let us know. You can find more information in the special brochures for the various screenings. * Birth Notice for the Heel Prick Test
It is important that the heel prick screening take place as soon as possible after birth. To that end, the midwife sends a birth notification to the Praeventis registration system at the RIVM/RCP. The RIVM/RCP instructs the youth health care services to perform the heel prick test. If you already know that you do not want to participate in the heel prick screening, you can let us know. We will then file an objection, and the digital birth notification will not be sent.

* Perinatal Registration
In the Netherlands, midwives, general practitioners, gynecologists, and pediatricians collaborate on the Perinatal Registry. This registry collects data from various healthcare providers throughout the entire process. The goal of the Perinatal Registry is to improve the quality of care surrounding pregnancy and childbirth. This registry also facilitates scientific research, which helps advance medical knowledge about pregnancy and childbirth. The Perinatal Registry is managed by the PRN Foundation (Perinatal Registry Netherlands).

* Referral Index
As a midwifery practice, we are affiliated with the Referral Index for the provinces of Utrecht and Gelderland.  The Referral Index is a system through which professionals can indicate their care and/or involvement with your son or daughter. The purpose of the Referral Index is to connect the relevant professionals with one another so that, together with you, they can provide the most appropriate support and guidance.
