Hospital Bag

Hospital Bag

Struggling with 1 large suitcase, 2 separate bags, and a car seat…

Sometimes we see partners struggling on their way to the delivery room. We push the wheelchair and carry an extra bag, but even then it can still be a challenge! We sometimes chuckle to ourselves about this… You probably don’t need that much!

There are so many ideas about the “hospital bag” or the “emergency bag.” We prefer to use the term “hospital bag.” There’s really no need to panic, but scrambling to gather your things at the last minute isn’t practical either.

Be sure to pack a bag in case you want to give birth at home. You never know if you might have to go to the hospital after all.

What should really go in there?

  • Documents:
    • ID
    • Birth Plan
    • Magazine
  • Clothing:
    • Maternity dress/shirt, nightwear, slippers, and clothes to wear home.
    • 2 outfits for the baby, a jacket, a shawl
    • A set of clothes for your partner
  • Toiletries
  • Camera/phone with chargers
  • Maybe something to eat. You can always ask for food at the hospital! But they don't usually have M&M's in the kitchen 😉

It should all fit in one bag, right? That'll save the partners some stress! What if you end up having to stay longer? Then you can always go back and get some more stuff!
