During your appointment, we will provide you with detailed information—if you wish—about the options for prenatal testing. By prenatal testing, we mean the NIPT, 13 and 20-week ultrasound and prenatal testing At the NIPT This test assesses the risk of having a baby with Down syndrome (and Edwards or Patau syndrome). For the NIPT, a blood sample is taken from the pregnant woman.
The 13 and 20 weeks This ultrasound is also known as the Structural Ultrasound Examination (SEO). The name pretty much says it all. During this ultrasound, the baby is primarily examined for structural (visible) abnormalities.
If indicated, we also provide information about prenatal diagnostic tests. These include the chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis.
