Why is it important to feel free to contact us, and when should you call us right away?

As you may have read elsewhere on our site, we think it's very important that you can always easily reach us by phone! We're always available!

If you call with a specific complaint, we’ll ask you more questions about it. This will allow us to offer advice. We’ll also determine, in consultation with you, whether an additional checkup is needed. You’re always welcome to request an additional checkup at the practice. We’ll then schedule an extra appointment for you. There’s no additional charge for this.

By accessible contactBy scheduling an appointment, we'll have a better understanding of your health and that of the baby.

We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to determine when you really need to call. What counts as an emergency? When should you call your midwife right away?

  • At excessive vomiting. Severe nausea that makes it almost impossible to eat or drink and/or causes you to vomit everything up. In this case as well, we have many tips to offer, but we can also arrange for further testing if necessary. We want to prevent you from becoming dehydrated.
  • If there is a case of vaginal bleeding. It may be harmless, but in principle it shouldn’t happen. We’d like to know the reason for it. It could be bleeding caused by implantation (early in pregnancy). It could also be caused by bleeding from the cervix (which can result from sneezing, straining during a bowel movement, or after sex, among other things).

There may also be other reasons why we need to do more research. That’s why it’s a good idea to call!

  • If you feel the baby moving less or not at all after 27 weeks of pregnancy. Feeling the baby move is important because the baby receives nutrients and oxygen through the placenta. If the placenta isn’t functioning as well as it should, the baby’s condition may deteriorate. The baby will then move less. Fortunately, this is by no means always the reason! Most of the time, you feel the baby moving less because it’s lying differently or is “just” having a quieter day. But we’d like to rule out other possibilities! For more information on this, see: brochure on children's movements or Feeling Your Baby Move
  • In the case of a combination of symptoms such as: headaches (band-like sensation), blurred vision or seeing stars, a band-like sensation around the upper abdomen, pain in the upper abdomen, pain in the upper back between the shoulder blades, along with nausea and/or frequent vomiting. This could be a sign of preeclampsia. In that case, we’d like to conduct further tests, such as measuring your blood pressure.
  • Leakage of amniotic fluid or regular contractions before 37 weeks of pregnancy. It’s still too early for the delivery. We’ll make a house call and perform some checkups. If you are indeed in labor, we’ll arrange for you to go to the hospital after consulting with you. Read and find out here when you should call if you go into labor after 37 weeks.

So if it's an emergency or you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 06-21273314—we're here to help!
